RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of 15 April 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The largest ship afloat left Southampton, England, April 10, 1912 on her maiden voyage to New York City. Just five days later at 2:20 am on the morning of April 15th she sank after hitting an iceberg 400 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia. Of the 2,223 people on board, only 710 survived.
