COE Truck Metal Earth Overview
Parts can be easily clipped from the metal sheets and as shown on instructions, tweezers make an ideal tool for bending or twisting connection tabs. An excellent DIY hobby model kit.
The Metal Earth models are amazingly detailed etched models that are fun and satisfying to assemble. Each model starts out as square metal sheets and you simply pop out the pieces and follow the included instructions to assemble your model. No glue or solder needed.
The Cabover Engine Truck
Freightliners introduced its first conventional model, an adaptation of the high COE mainstay product. The overall length regulations that limited the bumper-to-taillight dimension of a semitrailer unit to 55 ft on interstate highways. Conventionals were popular on western roads due to more convenient ingress/egress, better ride, and easier access to the engine for servicing.
This truck configuration is currently common among European and Asian truck manufacturers. European regulations set restrictions for both the total length and the length of the load area, which allow a cab length of 2.35m in combination with the maximum load area length. This allows a sleeper cab with a narrow bunk, and would allow a bonneted day cab. Nonetheless, no manufacturer in Europe produces such day cabs with bonnets. The last manufacturer of a conventional in Europe, Scania, stopped production in 2005.
