Brandenburg Gate Metal Earth
3D Metal Model Kit - Silver Edition
Brandenburg Gate Metal Earth Overview
Parts can be easily clipped from the metal sheets and as shown on instructions, tweezers make an ideal tool for bending or twisting connection tabs. An excellent DIY hobby model kit.
The Metal Earth models are amazingly detailed etched models that are fun and satisfying to assemble. Each model starts out as square metal sheets and you simply pop out the pieces and follow the included instructions to assemble your model. No glue or solder needed.
The Brandenburg Gate is the only remaining gate through which Berlin was once entered. It was commissioned by King William II of Prussia as a sign of peace. The design is based upon the gateway to the Acropolis in Athens. Atop the gate is the Quadriga, a chariot drawn by four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory.
When Germany was reunified following the fall of the Berlin in November 1989 Brandenburg Gate quickly reinvented itself into the New Berlin's symbol of unity. It was officially opened to traffic on December 22, 1989 and 100,000 people came to celebrate the occasion. Unfortunately this also resulted in severe damage to the monument which needed to be restored and was only officially reopened on October 3, 2002.
